As we now have on-line Computerized Booking all games will require pre booking – time sheets will open 14 days prior to the event at 5pm local time and closing time is 7pm on the Saturday prior to the game.

To Qualify for the 2010 Championship a Player must have played at least 2 games in year 2010 prior to the commencement of Commonwealth Day 1. Full conditions are near the end of this web page.

 

MAJOR EVENTS 2010

VVGA AVGU VGA and AGU CHAMPIONSHIPS

NOTICES:

Statistics will be recorded to establish the Golfer of the Year (minimum of 6 games to be played for statistics to count), to be presented at Kew on December 6th.

Members are requested to wear name badges. Replacements from Membership Secretary Bill Rhoden at cost $10.  Collect new/replacement badges at games.

Upon arrival at games report to registration desk to arrange or confirm game tee start position. In Four Ball events partners will be as per the booking sheet (Positions 1 and 2, and positions 3 and 4).

Please try to tender exact money.

Members of home clubs cost $10

Members are requested not to wear metal spiked shoes.

Dress requirements are as per visited Club conditions.

Members wishing to use private carts are to contact the visited club direct for approval.

Handicaps in our competitions are limited to a maximum of 27

Unless otherwise advised, individual competitions will be split into two grades (subject to sufficient numbers entering on the day) – “A” Grade 0 – 15 and “B” Grade 16 - 27

If for any COMPELLING reason you cannot attend on the morning of an event, or if you are going to be late, please ring Operations 0450 353 936 – This phone will only be active for one hour prior to the event – Do Not Leave a Message (neither verbal or text).  Normal cancellation procedures otherwise apply.

GPS Devices – A GPS device that measures distance only may be used – Any device that is designed to gauge or measure other conditions whether used or not is not permitted – Penalty for such use is Disqualification

CONDITIONS OF ENTRY
  1. Open only to current members of the MDVGA who have played in a minimum of two (2) matches run by, or supported by the MDVGA, since the start of the 2010 calendar year.
  2. Entrants must have a handicap not exceeding 12.4 strokes as at the entry closing date.
  3. There is no additional cost to play, just the normal entry fees for the two daily events.
  4. All competitors will automatically be entered in the handicap stableford event of the day.
  5. Entries will be accepted at the Patterson River, Kew or Woodlands MDVGA events or may be posted to the Tournament Co-ordinator, Mr. Richard Froebel, so that they are received prior to Tuesday, June 1st, 2010.
  6. A list of all entered players will be published on the MDVGA website as they are received. All entrants are requested to check that their name appears on the list prior to Friday June 4th.
  7. Members who participate in the Scratch Championship are ineligible to play in the 2010 Handicap Bowl.

COMPETITION FORMAT

  1. This is a scratch, stroke competition to be played over two (2) rounds each of 18 holes.
  2. All eligible entered players will be guaranteed a place on the time sheet for the first round at Commonwealth on Monday, June 28th, 2010 and will be grouped together for that round.
  3. After Round 1the field will be cut. Only the top 8 placed players and ties will advance to the Final round.
  4. These players will be guaranteed a place on the time sheet for the Final round at Southern GC on Monday, November 22nd, 2010 and will be grouped together using a seeded draw.
  5. After the Final round, the player with the lowest two round total will be declared the winner.
  6. In the event of a tie occurring, the winner will be decided by count-back with the Golf Australia approved system being used.
  7. If for any reason, either round is cancelled before all competitors have completed that round, the MDVGA Match Committee will either decide to reschedule the cancelled round on another day or reduce the Championship to an 18 hole competition.
  8. Any disputes will be decided by the MDVGA Match Committee whose decision will be final.

  2. Players competing in the 2010 Scratch Championship are ineligible for the Handicap Bowl.
  3. There is no entry form as all competitors who play in either of the two days at Commonwealth will automatically be entered in the Handicap Bowl unless they have entered the Scratch Championship.
  4. Maximum handicap limit: 27.
  5. There is no additional cost to play, just the normal entry fees for the two daily events.
  6. All competitors will automatically be entered in the individual Stableford handicap event of the day.

COMPETITION FORMAT

    • This is a handicap, stableford competition to be played over two (2) rounds each of 18 holes duration.
    • Competitors may choose to play their first round on either of the two days we have at Commonwealth. Those who wish to play on both days will be credited with the score they achieved on Monday, June 28th 2010.
    • Only the top 8 placed players and ties will have a place reserved on the time sheet for the Final round at Southern GC on Monday, November 22nd, 2010 and will be grouped together using a seeded draw.
    • All other players regardless of their score from Round 1, may contest the Final round, however they will be required to reserve their own place in the field in the normal manner.
    • After the Final round, the player with the highest two round points tally will be declared the winner.
    • In the event of a tie occurring for first place, the winner will be decided by count-back.
    • If for any reason, either round is cancelled before all competitors have completed that round, the MDVGA Match Committee will either decide to reschedule the cancelled round on another day or reduce the Championship to an 18 hole competition.
