    • The Dunes - Tuesday May 22

    • The 74 players present today experienced cool and windy conditions, but otherwise free of rain and showers despite the intermittent showers experienced during the early morning drive down the freeway. The use of compulsory carts at The Dunes for all players proved popular as there would otherwise be long walks to some of the “shot gun” tees. The course was presented in excellent condition with fast greens.

The Dunes is one of very few links style courses in Australia. All the holes are played through and over rolling sand dunes on what is known as the “Cups Country” of the Mornington Peninsula. The Dunes is one of Australia’s premier public access courses. The Golf Course Guide, Australia’s golfing directory to public access courses, has rated The Dunes as the number one public access course in Victoria, and as high as number four in the country.

Today 41 golf balls were presented to players who had 30 or more points.  Our member guests today were John Brown from Peninsula Kingswood and Roy Shrimpton from Rosebud Country Club. Lucky card draws – Rounds of golf for four donated by The Dunes were won by David McGrail, Rob MacDonald and Bryce Trotman.
